Ambulatory Phlebectomy is the surgical removal of unsightly varicose veins through very small incisions under local anesthetic cover. The keyhole incisions are used to carry out the procedure that usually does not leave any scar.
Instead of the standard 12.7–25.4 mm scalpel incisions for vein stripping in the skin, the phlebectomy procedure is done by a tiny 1–3 mm needle by puncturing the skin.
Before starting the vein removal process, local anesthesia is infused to numb the skin and affected area, to reduce the discomfort & pain during the procedure of vein removal.
You will require to stand for an extended period of time before the vein treatment begins. This allows the varicose veins (both small and large) to widen as much as possible.
Allowing our doctor to easily see the veins and mark them for removal. The medical assistant will return to you after 5 –15 minutes of standing on your feet to explain the treatment and mark the parts on the leg that will be handled.

You will be able to walk and resume daily activities directly after the ambulatory phlebectomy procedure, while compression stockings will be required for the first week. You can normally return to work the next day, but avoid exercising and heavy weight lifting for around two weeks.
Driving yourself to and from your phlebectomy appointment is not recommended. While the Ambulatory Phlebectomy treatment would not hinder the ability to walk, it is safest not to drive right thereafter due to the local anesthetics and leg covering.
